In The Amputee, the artist gives form to a silent scream. The painting stages an inner confrontation: that of an individual facing the weight of a dominant collective. Three figures with piercing gazes occupy the top of the composition, merging into a shapeless mass that resembles a powerful wave crashing down. Their eyes alone are enough — they judge, dominate, impose.
Below, alone, stands a single figure. It has no mouth — amputated, stripped of its ability to speak. Its gaze is lifted toward the three eyes above, not with admiration, but in a quiet, almost painful tension.
Warm and cool colors intertwine across the canvas, reflecting the emotional turmoil: the desire to speak versus the need to remain silent. Because sometimes, to survive in a world that refuses to listen, it feels safer to keep one’s thoughts unspoken. This work expresses that forced renunciation, the silent violence of being different in a world overcome by noise.

“Puppets 2” is the sequel to my previous work, “Puppets 1,” created a year earlier. In this new piece, I further explore the human condition through the symbolic imagery of puppets. The characters are animated by intense emotions, expressing both fragility and silent resistance.

The color palette remains consistent with that of the first work, reinforcing a visual and emotional continuity within a strong expressionist and symbolic aesthetic.

This is an original work, expressing the invisible forces that draw us in, the struggle for autonomy, and the inner evolution of emotions.

The Puppets – Special Expressive Painting by Essediya Halloâ

The Puppets was painted between 2015 and 2016, during a time of global upheaval and confusion. The world seemed to spiral into extreme violence, and it was hard to tell who was really behind it all. So much was being done in the name of religion, yet the true motives remained hidden—perhaps manipulated.

This painting expresses my deep sense of disillusionment. Who is pulling the strings? Who is really in control? The figures in this piece appear like lifeless puppets, dragged into a destructive system they do not understand and cannot escape.

Through muted colors, vacant stares, and suspended movement, I evoke the loss of individuality—the transformation of human beings into tools, symbols, marionettes. This work is a silent cry, a visual resistance against violence and manipulation.
